ONE OF THESE THREE DUDES MIGHT PLAY FINNICK IN CATCHING FIRE.
I’m going to go ahead and call this fantastic news, especially in light of those disturbing R-Patz rumors. Yeesh.
And seirously, I would be thrilled to see Taylor Kitsch, Garrett Hedlund, or Armie Hammer take this role. Taylor was awesome in John Carter, Garrett was satisfactory in TRON: Legacy, and Armie was hot in The Social Network (not that he even came close to overshadowing my Jesse Eisenberg crush - ahem). I can imagine any one of them playing Finnick and getting the charming-but-broken personality right. Although I will admit that when I imagine each one of them looking up and yelling, “Annie!” it’s Garrett’s face that fits the best. THAT MIGHT JUST BE ME, THOUGH.
Here’s a fun story: When I was reading the book, I imagined Finnick looking like Chris Hemsworth, and then as I was reading, I suddenly realized that Finnick and Gale “looked” related. OH SNAP. (It was before I knew Liam was Chirs’s brother.)
Here’s the shirt I made for the midnight Hunger Games premiere! I had my hair in a side-braid and wore dark distressed jeans, and when I was walking out of the theater I realized how much the outfit made me feel like Katniss in the arena (black v-neck, ripped pants, braid). I also wore gold eye shadow and did my nails gold and red for a fire theme. I was disappointed that more people at my theater didn’t dress up!
Overall, I really liked the movie. I’m glad we got to see more than just Katniss’s point of view. I highly recommend seeing it if you haven’t yet. I have more to say about it, so hit the jump if you’re cool with spoilers.
I loved Jennifer Lawrence’s dress and interview at the LA premiere of The Hunger Games this evening! But if you know anything about me, that’s probably not very surprising. The event streamed live, but if you missed it, check it out here. Lots of fun moments! I’m a little disappointed that there was no interview with Suzanne Collins. What’s up with authors being so invisible? Everyone was mentioning her name, but she was nowhere to be seen, like some kind of mysterious oracle or something.
I can’t even tell you how BUMMED I am that Jennifer Lawrence isn’t coming to the DALLAS event. I was so ready to go stand in line and then cry on the news like those Khloe Kardashian fangirls did when she visited (not making that up). But now? I guess I’ll just stay home. SIGH.
Oh, Jen. Your smile says “I would be so fun to meet!” but your eyes say, “In your dreams.” And your blue dress says, “Hey, remember that time I was Mystique?” HOW COULD I FORGET, JEN? HOW?
I HAD to jump on here before bed and post the new March 2012 cover of Vanity Fair, because…because LOOK! Rooney Mara and Jennifer Lawrence RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER AND STUFF.
OK, I realize my excitement may be somewhat confusing since I’ve never actually posted about anything related to Rooney or The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but that’s only because I didn’t get into it until after it was news. I read the books, TGdO over the trailers, and saw the film, but well after all the hype. After that, nothing really came up that was newsworthy and TGO-worthy (with the possible exception of my discovery of this magazine cover, which made me clap because Lisbeth loves pizza in the books), until now! Yes, I did just imply that sitting near Jennifer made Rooney newsworthy. But you know, it is pretty groovy that two of my favorite TGO ladies are on the same cover! Even if I’ve only blogged about one of them! Just nod and accept my logic!
Speaking of Jen, I wonder if she looked at Mia Wasikowska and thought, if only for a split second, Hey, we’ve both totally made out with Michael Fassbender. Maybe I’m getting a little carried away. New topic. I know! If you haven’t seen the new Hunger Games trailer, here it is! Yay!
See the full Vanity Fair three-page cover spread here.
Here are the four Avengers covers of the March issue of Empire (UK), which is apparently on sale now and also features a Hunger Games article! Looks like I may need to make a special trip to the magazine stand at Barnes & Noble! The only challenge is which cover to choose…
I have a confession. Out of all the promotional material for The Hunger Games, anything involving Effie has absolutely been the most exciting to me. I wasn’t expecting this, and I’m not exactly sure why. She wasn’t my favorite character in the books, but I guess the transition from page to screen is most interesting when it’s her. Plus, seeing the way she dresses/behaves really gives us a window into the world of the Capitol in a way no other character can. Every time we get to see another one of her outfits, I’m just outrageously happy, and what you see above is no exception!
It’s from the new website Capitol Couture, where there’s also this awesome gif of Effie and her newest outfit in action. The site itself looks like a FANTASTIC idea! Check it out, and scroll down for a post solely (ha) about shoes - presumably with photos of actual feet from the set! Brilliant.
Here we have a new image and what is apparently the FINAL poster for The Hunger Games.
As excited as I am for the film and any new promos, I kind of have mixed feelings about both of these. The poster is obviously cool and well-structured, but why SO much airbrush? And regarding the new picture…I just don’t know what to think about those shoulders. I’m glad Cinna’s about to light them - it looks like it will be an appropriately awesome scene - but, still, why those shoulders? Then again, everything is over-the-top in The Capitol, so that style is probably perfectly normal in context. Heh.
The new trailer for The Hunger Games is seriously everything I hoped for and more. I think I’ve watched it ten times in the last hour or something. I wanted to be able to tell you my favorite part, but there’s just no way to choose one moment. So many things about this preview make me wildly excited that I can barely stand it. How perfect is Effie? How heart-wrenching is Katniss’s volunteer moment? Is there any chance that whistle at the end isn’t Katniss and Rue’s signal?
The ONE thing in the trailer that I would consider a potential let-down is Katniss’s red dress when she’s on stage with Caesar. A simple red dress? What’s up with that? That doesn’t look like a “girl on fire” to me.
But everything else about this trailer is so glorious, I’m just going to focus on the good for now… Excuse me, I think I need to go watch it again. TGO!
I am so pshyched. I hope this trailer is as overwhelmingly awesome as the one for The Avengers. Like I said before, I would love to get a glimpse of the Capitol and District 12, even if it’s half a second each. And I know this kind of contradicts what I said the last time I posted about The Hunger Games, but I think what I’m most excited about is seeing Jennifer Lawrence actually playing Katniss. Sure, we saw her cautiously walking around in that preview-of-a-preview, and we’ve seen stills, but this time we’ll (presumably) get to see her in character to the full extent for the first time. Dialogue, people. There will be dialogue! THAT is just ridiculously exciting.
